Weedbusters will be launching the new Bay of Plenty Plant Me Instead booklet as part of the national ‘dirty weekend’ weed swap initiative. Find out if any of your weeds are in the Plant Me Instead booklet or the Regional Pest Management Strategy and bring them along and swap them for a native plant. Only one shopping bag of weeds though!
If you can’t make it to swap your bag of weeds, send in a photo of your ‘dirty weekend’ of backyard weedbusting with a story of 200 words or less and be in to win a $100 garden voucher sponsored by Mitre 10 Mega. Kiwi Recovery – from crisis to community crusade
Pim de Monchy will talk about his work on the National Kiwi Recovery Group and his work with kiwi on Kapiti Island, Coromandel and at Maungatautari Ecological Island.
Pim has been involved with the Moehau kiwi sanctuary since it was planned in 1999, where he has helped to create a new kiwi population in the 3400-hectare predator-fenced sanctuary. He has been a member of the Kiwi Recovery Group since 2008. Thursday 22 October 7pm Eastbay REAP
