WHAKATANE MOUNTAIN BIKE CLUB
Whakatane MTB club continues to grow as does our trail network. We have some excellent singletrack being developed due to the unstinting efforts of our members. For the more daredevil riders a number of trail are appearing including Eric B with its structures, The Jumps line (still being created) and Sleepy Heads which is a work in progress. Thanks guys for your work. Contact US

CYCLING ADVOCATES NETWORK
The Cycling Advocates' Network (CAN) was formed in 1996 as New Zealand's national network of cycling advocate groups. It is a voice for everyday cyclists - recreational, commuter and touring. CAN works with central government and local authorities, on behalf of cyclists, for a better cycling environment.
Three reasons why you should join CAN:
-
MAKE YOURSELF COUNT nationally - The more members CAN has, the more likely cyclists will be heard in the transport planning processes.
-
GET INFORMED - CAN delivers to you the information you need to advocate for cycling more effectively: news, campaigns, events, and other opportunities to make a difference.
-
GET CONNECTED - Meet like minded people that share your interest in improving conditions for cycling.

NZ GREEN BIKE TRUST

The New Zealand Green Bike Trust was formed in 2002 to trial various cycling initiatives for residents, community organisations and visitors in Porirua. One of a number of initiatives run by the Trust is the Free Community Bikes programme. The Trust accepts unwanted, unused bikes which a team of experienced volunteers give new life to. The Trust then distributes free bikes to community groups and disadvantaged families in Wellington. In 2008 over 300 free bikes were distributed throughout the community. The Trust would also like to replicate these programmes by setting up branches in Auckland, Hamilton, Christchurch and Dunedin with like-minded individuals and community groups with assistance from local councils and government agencies. If you want more information on the NZ Green Bike Trust, or would like to talk to them about growing the programme in your region, please check out their website: NZ Green Bike Trust
